posters

“Posters” is about the complicated feelings of waiting and restlessness combined with feeling dejected and helpless about finding your person. The songs says “I can’t look for you, I don’t know how. Can’t hang posters all over town that say missing, lost, call this number if you wanna be found.”

I hope you find listening to this song as gut-wrenchingly cathartic as I felt writing it.

Preventative medicine

“‘Preventative Medicine’ is about protecting yourself from heartbreak by avoiding love completely. But really it’s because you’re scared of it.”

justified

“‘Justified’ is about pretending that you are debating what to do, when the answer is clear. But still debating anyway. But not really. But a little bit.”

Sunshine

“We all have THOSE days when nothing seems to be going right, and you just need your people to get through it. We are all also that person for someone else. I wrote 'Sunshine' to let you know that we need each other to make it through the tough times, and not only is that okay, it's beautiful :)

Searching

“I want to convey something uplifting by the end of the song, even if it’s a sadder song or more melancholic like ‘Searching’ is. I think I just want to say it’s ok. You don’t have to flow and try to be with people even if it’s not exactly what you're looking for just because everyone else has somebody. It’s ok to just chill out and be patient and wait for the right person who is really what you want.”

Blarb 361

“‘Blarb 361’ seems whimsical–but it has a deeper meaning. I sometimes can’t shake the feeling of being misunderstood, so I infused this emotion into ‘Blarb 361.’ I flipped my feelings, created an alien planet to represent them, blurted out the first alien-planet name that came to mind, and, within seven minutes, had a song.”

this is it

“As a songwriter, I infused "This Is It" with all the mixed emotions I felt when graduating high school--feeling excited for a new beginning, but melancholic about the end of an era.”
